'Velvet Revolver - Slither'
For this task I was supposed to perform a count of the amount of shots used within a music video of my choice. I chose this music video for 'Velvet Revolver - Slither'. I counted approximately 212 shots used within the video. Theses ranged from close up shots to jump cuts. There is a lot of emphasis on the different band members when the song reaches a section specific to their part. This means that when the song has a stronger rhythm section the camera will focus more on the rhythm guitarist and during stronger lead or vocal sections the camera will focus on the lead guitarist or the singer. There is also a strong sense of voyeurism within the video as there are various shots of female dancers, This adds to the male gaze aspect which can be found in a lot of rock and metal videos.
